EWWWWWWW Turns to COOOOOOOOOL!

DSCN1265Our dissection with the 10th graders was very fun! Now you might think, “EWWWWWW! I’m never ever going to touch that even with gloves!” But, once you pick up your tweezers and get into it, it’s really fun and you don’t want to stop.

I got to find all sorts of bones, like ribs and skulls. I even found a feather but didn’t even find a bird! It was also cool because you got to see what animal the owl had eaten. I had a rodent and a shrew in my pellet. When all that was done I got to bring it home and gross out my parents—Ryan Hawa ’16

  1. I thought the owl pellet dissection was very interesting and I learned a lot about animal bones. At first I thought, “EWWWW!” because it’s owl barf, but once I started it was fun. The 10th grader who worked with me was very nice and helped me get the fur off of the bones. When I brought the paper with the bones home, my mom thought it was cool and didn’t squeal at all.

This was a very fun project! Thanks, Ms.Wearing!-Zoe Fargnoli Brown

  2. My first reaction when Ryan brought home his “amazing” discoveries was “What did you bring home!” I also thought what did Miss Tracy have them do this time or what was Ryan and his buddies digging up at recess. Now that I understand, I also think how “Cool”! Thank you LCC for inspiring our kids and allowing them to step beyond their comfortable boundaries.
